On the Origin of Species
Nov 24 2009 marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species - a seminal work in biology (and a pretty good piece of writing to boot). Join us for a full-day reading of this book on Feb 12 at one of the following locations. We'll be sitting in a circle with each person reading two pages at a time - so feel free to stay for 5 minutes or 5 hours, whatever works with your schedule. Copies of the book will be provided, so just bring yourself (and friends!)
Beverages and bagels will be provided, and anyone who reads more than 4 pages (that's just two rounds) will get a FREE Darwin 200 T-shirt! Signup below to let us know if you're coming - this is completely non-binding.
10-11:30am: Harvard Hall Lobby, 1st Floor. Reading of Chapter 1: Variation Under Domestication.
Noon-7pm: To complete the reading in one day, we will be parallelizing the reading in three locations:
- Harvard Museum of Natural History, Romer Hall (Dinosaurs): Chapters 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
- Harvard University Press Display Room, Holyoke Center (opposite Oggi's Gourmet): Chapters 7, 8, 9, 10
- Memorial Hall Transept (Alcove): Chapters 11, 12, 13 and 14
